Wave programs are designed to provide a safe and personalized experience for all participants. Instead of one big start with thousands of people taking off at once, we divide everyone into 'corrals' and release each corral in 'waves'.
Each wave is organized by people's expected pace so that everyone can run with people their own speed. Waves start with the fastest runners, then go to slower runners, then joggers, then walkers. In some cases, you will select your wave when you register. This is referred to as a 'seeded wave' (requires proof of time). In the event a corral is crowded, event organizers reserve the right to split the wave to balance the crowd.
For most The Infinite Foundation events, non-seeded waves are the standard and participants are invited to self-seed at the start line (no proof required).
For most The Infinite Foundation events, non-seeded waves are the standard and participants are invited to self-seed at the start line (no proof required).
Waves are released every 3–4 minutes, depending on the size of the field. Your chip time does not start until you cross the timing mat at the start line. No need to worry about late start times or not pacing correctly if you are in a later wave release. In the event a corral is crowded, event organizers reserve the right to split the wave to balance the crowd.
Course time limits are calculated to reflect the fastest and slowest possible pace times that are in line with the course time limit. Chip timing records your exact start and finish time, so your results will accurately reflect the time it took you to run the race, no matter which corral you start in.
